Day Trip Nakano Shimbashi vol.1
A Day trip to… Nakano Shimbashi
Explore and discover Nakano Shimbashi! Here is where to head to spend a day in the neighborhood.
11:00-12:00 Brunch at TRICHROMATIC COFFEE
The best way to start the day is with a delicious brunch at Trichromatic Coffee. This stylish café with terrace seating is only a four-minute walk from Hmlet Nakano-Shimbashi. We recommend their mouth-watering toast and sandwiches made with bread from the popular Sasazuka bakery, “Opan”. This crispy on the outside and soft on the inside bread with freshly brewed coffee is the perfect combo to start your day right!
12:00-12:30 Walk to Shinjuku Central Park
After brunch there is nothing better than a nice and relaxing walk. You can pick one of the several routes from Nakano Shinbashi Station towards Shinjuku Central Park and enjoy unexpected scenery, small shops and the beauty of nature.
12:30-13:00 Visit Juniso-kumanojinja
The Juniso Kumanojinja is located beside Shinjuku Central Park and is considered the guardian of all of Shinjuku. The shrine in all its majestic beauty perfectly matches the vibrant nature of Shinjuku. It’s believed that the shrine was built by Kuro Suzuki in the Oei era (1394-1428) of the Muromachi period (1394-1428), when he transferred the Twelve Kumano Gongen from the three Kumano mountains in Kishu. The shrine is very famous and the ideal place to pray for business, safety, and the healing of illness. Nadeshiko Japan also visited the shrine to pray for victory before winning the FIFA World Cup!
13:00-14:00 Lunch at The knot Tokyo Shinjuku
After visiting the temple, The Knot Hotel Tokyo is the perfect place to stop for a relaxing lunch. This stylish hotel is located right in front of Shinjuku Central Park - you can't miss it! The MORE THAN GRILL on the 2nd floor is the perfect place to have a casual lunch while enjoying the greenery of the park in front. An example of their spring lunch special is the colorful, fresh and delicious pasta with shrimp which even tastes like spring itself! The cozy atmosphere will tempt you to stay there for a long time, but it’s time to continue exploring the neighborhood!
14:00-15:00 Going to observatories
Did you know that the observatories in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building are free and open to everyone? There are two observation rooms, one to the north and one to the south and you can see the entire city of Tokyo including Tokyo Skytree and Tokyo Tower! On sunny days you can even spot Mt Fuji on the west side. *The use of the observatories may be restricted due to the coronavirus. For more information, please check the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's official website.
15:00-15:30 Walk to home
After enjoying the stunning views of Tokyo, it’s time to head home and a different route might lead to new and exciting discoveries!
16:00-Grab some bread for breakfast.
On the way back, stopping at HATOYA TOKYO is a must. The Nakano-Shinbashi Branch is the first Tokyo branch of the popular HATOYA Confectionary shop in Kyushu and the dough and other ingredients come directly from Kagoshima! This shop is very popular and its baked goods can get sold out very quickly, so we recommend calling in advance to make sure you can reserve a piece of deliciousness! If you prefer to eat-in, you can also enjoy their freshly baked breads directly in the shop. Everything there looks amazing and the "Cookie Chocolate & Whip" is great for breakfast as it’s always good to have something to look forward to in the morning!
Hope you enjoyed our neighborhood guide and Hmlet Nakano Shimbashi area!!
